On Monday, September 9, 2024, John Dramani Mahama, the leader of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), is scheduled to formally submit his candidacy forms to run in the forthcoming general elections.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a spokeswoman for Mr. Mahama, emphasized the significance of the filing and the campaign’s focus on economic reform and national unity after disclosing this information.
“This is a momentous occasion for the NDC as we gear up to build the Ghana we want together. Our campaign focuses on jobs, accountability, development, and a better future for all Ghanaians,” the NDC flagbearer’s spokesperson said.
Mr. Mahama will begin a four-day visit to the Bono Region on Sunday, September 8, 2024, in preparation for submitting his nomination.
Known as the #Mahama4Change2024 tour, the former president will stop by each of the 12 constituencies in the area, interacting with local leaders in the traditional and religious domains and building relationships with common people.
On the tour, Mahama is scheduled to speak at a youth conference at Sunyani Technical University and visit the Bono Regional House of Chiefs. There, he will likely present his ideas for spurring the economy and generating employment through creative policy.
