A 53-year-old businessman was given a 15-year prison term by the Accra Circuit Court for defiling his wife’s 12-year-old niece in the Greater Accra Region’s Afuaman neighborhood close to Ablekumah.
Amadu Moro had been found guilty of defilement by the Christina Cann-presiding court at that point.
The court handed down the punishment and stated that it had found the defendant guilty after carefully reviewing the evidence that had been submitted, the charge, the exhibits, and the relevant legal standards.
The Court stated that it also took into account the premeditation, level of repulsion, and inherent gravity of the offense.
The victim is the complainant’s niece, and the prosecution is being led by Inspector Opoku Aniagyei. The complainant is a housewife.
One night in the month of October 2021, when the complainant got up to go to the bathroom, she was shocked to see the accused having sex with the victim.
According to the prosecution, the complainant afterwards reported the incident to the police in Nima, who then gave him a medical document so he could get treatment for the victim.
Although the accused denied the offense in his caution statement, the prosecutor said that he was apprehended by the police.
The victim had been defiled, according to the police medical report that was obtained.
