The Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) has awarded Mobile Money certification to MobileMoney Limited (MML/MTN Momo). Between November 2022 and May 2023, MML underwent a thorough evaluation against eight (8) principles made up of specific criteria established by the GSMA.

These principles include, among others, system security, data privacy, money security, and operational excellence.

Millions of mobile money users worldwide are supported by the GSMA Mobile Money accreditation, a global movement that promotes security, transparency, and robust financial services. The only global certification program created specifically for mobile money services, it fosters confidence among users and stakeholders.

Expressing his joy at the certification, the CEO of Mobile Money Limited, Shaibu Haruna said, “this certification gives credence to the fact that Mobile Money Limited is poised to grow the business into a global FinTech service. The company has invested heavily in the right technology and the skills needed to provide FinTech transformation. We are excited to be offering our customers a globally accredited service which continues to drive digital innovation.”

As a market leader, MML will keep working to improve the delivery of high-quality financial services to its clients, foster stakeholder trust, and promote financial inclusion by making cutting-edge goods and services available to everyone.

The respected ISO certification (ISO/IEC 12007: 2013 certification) was awarded to MML in 2016. An international security standard that outlines recommended practices for how businesses should manage their data has been developed.
