As it prepares to choose candidates for the 2024 parliamentary elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ghana’s biggest opposition party, has deferred parliamentary primaries in 27 constituencies.
The NDC General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, made the announcement in a communiqué on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the NDC begins accepting nomination forms.
: Ayawaso Central, Amasaman, Afram Plains South, Akwatia, Effutu, Gomoa Central, Amenfi East, Evalue Gwira, Assin North, Pusiga, Tarkwa Nsuaem, Ayensuano, Adansi Asokwa, Offinso North, Ahafo Ano North, Sekyere Afram Plains, Ahafo Ano South West(Aduagyaman) Bosome Freho, Asante Akim Central, Manso Adubia, Manhyia South, Subin, Fomena.
“The Functional Executive Committee will in due course announce the date for the opening of nominations in the above Constituencies,” the statement included
The NDC has declared that everything is ready for the nomination period to begin for its presidential and legislative contenders in the general elections of 2024.
According to a party statement, nomination papers for parliamentary candidates will be available for purchase on the party’s main website, www.ghanandc.com, starting at midnight on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Additionally, starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, candidates for president are requested to pick up candidacy papers from the Office of the General Secretary at the Party’s Headquarters in Adabraka, Accra.
Later in the day the General Secretary of the party Fifi Fiavi Kwetey added four more constituencies namely Gomoa East,Akontombra,Binduri and Odododiodio.
