A new Overlord, Bii-Kunuto Jawu Soale, has been enskinned to rule the Gonja Kingdom in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Gonja people.
The late Overlord Sulemana Tutumba Boresa I, who passed away in February of this year at the age of 90, was succeeded by Bii-Kunuto Jawu Soale.
Today, March 20, 2023, at about 10:30 am, he underwent the enskinment procedures of a Yagbonwura at Nyange, the former traditional capital of the Gonja people.
At the location, traditional performances were added to the enskinment ritual to add flavor.
The new Yagbonwura will be relocated to Damongo following the enskinment, and on Tuesday, March 21, he is anticipated to be installed at the Jakpa Palace in Damongo.
Many dignitaries, including government representatives, overlords from other traditional territories, and diplomats, will attend the outdoor ceremony, which is a typical rite.
Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jawu Soale is anticipated to maintain the unity of Gonjaland and strengthen traditional administration among the region’s numerous tribal tribes.
Bii-Kunuto Jawu Soale first assumed the sub-chieftaincy title of Jakpaseri-wura in the Tuluwe Traditional Region before rising to the top chieftaincy skin of the Gonja Kingdom.
He eventually acquired the skin of Timanklan-wura, from which he transitioned to Kachinako-wura, before being raised to the position of the Tuluwe skin’s entry gate as Bunda-wura.
On April 21, 2020, he received a new skin designating him the Paramount Chief of the Gonja Kingdom’s Tuluwe Traditional Area.
