At the party’s National Delegates Conference, which is taking place at the Accra Sports Stadium, more than 300 members of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) from the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) and proxy voters will not cast a ballot.

This occurs as a result of a ban placed on some voter groups. On Saturday, July 16, 2022, Peter Mac Manu, the head of the NPP’s election committee, made the announcement.

The injunction, according to Mr. Manu, was delivered last night. At the Accra Sports Stadium, where the conference is taking place, there are around 40 polling places, 47 candidates, and 6,300 voters.

The anticipated turnout would drop to around 6000 votes as a result of the injunction against TESCON and proxy voters.

Meanwhile, a few enraged TESCON members stormed the stadium to express their discontent with the ban imposed on their ability to vote.

“We’ve heard that we wont be able to cast a ballot. We do not appreciate it.Why are they torturing us in this way? We risked our lives to come here to vote whiles our colleagues are in school, they told the journalists.

For the next four years, the NPP will be led by a variety of elected national officials.
