When making fun of President Akufo-Addo and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Suhum, in the Eastern Region, former president John Mahama didn’t hold back.

He claimed that the President and his allies struggle to carry out their mandate now that they have it because they used “big English” and “slang” to spread false information about it when they were in the opposition.

“I have a Ghanaian accent, but they have a foreign accent. But these multiple slangs and big English don’t help a country progress, Mr. Mahama stated on Wednesday when speaking to a group of NDC representatives.

The former president, who is running for re-election, then adopted the well-known “incompetent Mahama” slogan used by the president and vice president in 2016.

“NPP is gonna come and transform Ghana in one and a half years. When we come we’ll give you one district, one factory” Mr Mahama mimic repeatedly.

After a string of well-known remarks from President Akufo-Addo, including “y3 te sika so nanso 3kom de y3n,” or “we have wealth but we are suffering,” Mr. Mahama broke out in laughter.

The former president has poked fun of the current administration previously. He made fun of Dr. Bawumia in March for saying that “we [NPP] have the solid economic management team.”
