In a unanimous vote, the members of the Upper West Region’s Regional Executive Committee of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have urged all party members to oppose President Akufo-Addo’s tour of the area.
On Sunday, August 21, 2022, the president is anticipated to make a working visit to the area.
The decision, according to the regional executives, was a protest against the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, who had taken over all events pertaining to the President’s visit.
This was declared at a brief press conference conducted in Wa, the regional hub of the Upper West, on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, immediately following the meeting of the regional executive committee.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, the regional secretary of the party, Dr. Daniel Duada Tanko, accused the regional minister of excluding the regional executives and party officials from the activities to welcome the president to the area.
He claimed that the regional executives are uneasy about how the regional minister treats them.
