Osei Kofi Acquah the National Communications Director of the CPP writes…
OLIVER BAKER’S CONTEMPT OF PARLIAMENT, THE MINORITY SHOULD JUST WALK OUT OF THE COMMITTEE IF THEY WANT TO SAVE THEIR IMAGE.
A known member of the NDC Oliver Baker Vermowor accuses the Majority in Parliament for taking monies from their own Party members who have been nominated as Minister Designates before approving them.
Parliament pretends to be angry by staging hours of back and forth debate either to suspend vetting yesterday or continue.
In the end the Deputy Speaker who is the chairman of the committee and has been singled out pleads that even though their IMAGE has been SOILED by Mr Baker, he wants that allegation overlooked to continue the vetting.
Now Today Mr Baker the subject in the heart of the controversy is in parliament, and guess what, His Counsel is a senior member of the NDC in the person of Nana Ato Dadzie.
Oliver admits to a Post whiles denying another post. His lawyer Nana Ato Dadzie defends his client’s post and says that his client is only drawing attention to what MAY BE HAPPENING AT THE BLIND SIDE OF THE COMMITTEE, and even proceed an attempt to shelter his client as a WHISTLEBLOWER.
Funny enough other members of the committee from the Minority who seems to want to get to the bottom of the issue are being heckled by members of the Majority who HAS BEEN ACCUSED.
For the records Hon Rockson Bukari Dafeamokor even questioned the jurisdictional powers of the committee to even interrogate the Subject in the first place. He Rockson even said that it is only the PRIVILEGES COMMITTEE of parliament who can peruse this matter.
The Chairman who is the first Deputy Speaker who talked very tough yesterday seems very confused this morning and doesn’t appear to know if Oliver Baker should be interrogated to divulge more details to his allegations or just accept a FISHY APOLOGY and move on.
My advise to the Minority is, JUST WALK OUT! After all it is the Majority who are being accused of taking bribes and it is them who are shielding the Subject instead of rigorously dealing with the matter at hand.
Whatever happens, perception plays a very important role in elections and we the electorates are watching how the whole thing unfolds.
