Hadad Media Consult in Accra has taught the staff of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) the fundamentals of drone firefighting.

The Chief Executive Officer of Hadad Media Consult, Mr. Jones Owusu Yeboah, described how drones operate. Drones, also referred to as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), have progressed from military uses to become essential instruments in emergency response situations across the globe.

These unmanned vehicles, which can be as small as a hand or as big as an airplane, are proving their adaptability to a wide range of applications, he said, from package delivery to military operations.

He said that emergency response scenarios are one notable area in which drone use is growing.

”With the ability to swiftly navigate challenging terrains and provide real-time data, drones are increasingly becoming crucial assets for first responders,” he noted.

Speaking at the GNFS personnel’s drone usage and flight training, Mr. Yeboah added that the use of payload drop systems expands the drones’ capabilities by allowing them to deliver a variety of equipment to help in emergency situations.

He claims that the incorporation of thermal (infrared) cameras, which enable drones to see through smoke and observe objects emitting energy in total darkness, is one of the revolutionary features.

According to him, this technology is extremely helpful in determining the scope and gravity of incidents, giving service commanders crucial information that helps them decide on the resources needed and the overall goals of the response.

With inventions like the firefighter drone powder extinguisher, he pointed out that the firefighting industry is especially benefiting from drone technology. He mentioned that this development makes it possible for drones to quickly and accurately deliver extinguishing agents, improving firefighting capabilities and lowering risks to human responders.
