Police grabs 9 more suspects for arson attack on EC office

In relation to the recent arson attack on the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Ayensuano, Eastern Region, the Ghana Police Service has revealed that nine more people have been arrested.

As a result, 106 people have been detained in connection with election-related disturbances.

Assisting with ongoing investigations into the violence and vandalism that followed the national elections in 2024, the suspects are presently in prison.

Following the elections, there were a number of unrest-related incidents, including the attack on the EC office.

To ensure that those causing the disturbances are held accountable for their conduct, the police have been working hard to find and capture them.

Along with the attack on the EC office, some persons reportedly targeted many Metro Mass Transit terminals and the National Disaster Management Organization’s (NADMO) offices.

According to the police, everyone who was arrested is going through the legal system.

The public was reassured by authorities of their dedication to reestablishing law and order and prosecuting those guilty for the violence.

The Ghana Police Service issued a statement asking people to help law enforcement by providing information to help capture those who are still at large and urging the public to exercise patience as investigations proceed.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its dedication to respecting the rule of law, preserving community safety, and preserving peace and security throughout the nation.
