President Akufo-Addo attends 78th UNGA, G77 summit and IAEA General Conference

On the invitation of H. E. Miguel Mario Diaz-Canal Bermudez, the president of the Republic of Cuba, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo left Ghana to attend a meeting of the G77+China on the topic of “Summit of Heads of States and Government on the Current Development Challenges: The Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation,” which is scheduled to take place from September 15 to 16, 2023, in Havana, Cuba.

President Akufo-Addo will attend the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly from Cuba from September 17 to September 22 2023. On September 20, 2023, he is scheduled to make a statement to the assembly.

On Monday, September 25, 2023, President Akufo-Addo will fly to Vienna, Austria, at the invitation of Dr. Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He will attend the 67th regular session of the IAEA General Conference and the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Atoms of Peace Speech.

Along with representatives from the Presidency and the Foreign Ministry, the President was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana. In his absence, Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will act in accordance with Article 60(8) of the constitution.
