On Tuesday, February 14, 2024, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, departed Ghana in order to lead the Ghanaian Delegation to the Munich Security Conference in Munich, Germany.
The Munich Security Conference (MSC) is a well-known forum for international talks about security strategy. MSC 2024 seeks to combat revisionist tendencies and uphold the international order based on rules. The celebration will honor the conference’s 60th anniversary and feature debates and side events.
President Akufo-Addo will travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the 37th African Union Summit from Munich. The heads of state will gather on February 17 and 18, 2024, with the theme being
“’Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa”.
President Akufo-Addo will give an update on Ghana’s hosting of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area and invite Commission Member States to a breakfast meeting on education and Au financial institutions.
Along with him were representatives from the Foreign Ministry and the Presidency, as well as First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, MP.
On Sunday, February 18, 2024, the President will return to Ghana. In his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will assume the role of President in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution.
