On September 1, 2023, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) will raise the prices for water and energy by 1.18% and 4.22%, respectively.

This follows the PURC’s fulfillment of the regulatory procedure for the quarterly adjustment of tariffs.

The method for reviewing tariffs every quarter seeks to monitor and take into account changes to important variables that are used to calculate natural gas, electricity, and water rates.

The average end-user energy price for non-lifeline residential users, however, has been approved by the Commission with a 4.22% overall increase, according to a statement released by the PURC on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.

“For the average end-user for water, life-line customers will experience no increase or change in tariff. The Commission however approved a 1.18 % increase in tariff for all other water customer group” the statement added.
