The clergy and other religious leaders have been urged by Parliament’s Speaker, Alban S. K. Bagbin, to speak out on issues of national importance and not to be intimidated by threats from politicians.
He contends that the church’s declining involvement in governmental or political issues has serious negative effects on the moral character of our nation.
He stated, “We cannot continue to close our eyes, sit back, and rely only on our prayers as a substitute for discipline, hard labor, and our feeling of duty as patriotic citizens.
The charge was given by the Speaker last Saturday at Frafraha, in the Greater Accra Region, during the investiture and induction of the church’s leadership by the Apostolic Church-Ghana (TAC-GHANA).
