Special Prosecutor begins investigation over alleged corruption at Scholarship Secretariat

In July 2023, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) announced that it has started looking into allegations of corruption and offenses related to corruption at the Scholarship Secretariat.

Osman Abdulai Ayariga, the Deputy National Youth Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), received a letter from the OSP stating that “the investigation is active and ongoing.”It further added “You may be contacted for assistance should the need arise.”

In light of the recent controversy surrounding the distribution of scholarships by the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Osman Ayariga, the Deputy National Youth Organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), is pleading with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to begin an investigation into Dr. Kingsley Agyemang.

The Scholarship Secretariat, under the current administration, has demonstrated what Mr. Ayariga describes as a troubling pattern of misbehavior. This is the basis for his appeal.

He is pleading with the OSP to carry out a thorough investigation into the actions of the Registrar and other secretariat employees concerning the scholarship distribution procedure, as revealed by the Fourth Estate.
