Afua Asantewaa’s attempt to set a new record for the longest individual singing marathon has come to an end.

Afua Asantewaa underwent a five-day singing marathon that began at midnight on Sunday, December 24 and ended at 7:00 am on December 29 in order to surpass the previous record of 105 hours set by an Indian in 2012.

By the time the young woman’s record attempt ended on Friday morning, she had performed for five days, six hours, and fifty-five minutes.

Afua Asantewaa thanked everyone who helped her, including those who could not make it to the Akwaaba Village, during her public remarks following her incredible achievement.

“At a point, I kept asking which day it was, and I finally got to know that today is Friday. On behalf of my family, team, volunteers, the media, and Ghana Tourism Authority, I would like to say thank you to everyone who participated in this attempt; it has been a smooth journey and a very successful one,” Afua stated.

The young woman says, “There are a lot of things you can try,” and she hopes that her efforts will positively affect Ghana’s music industry and encourage young people to take on more challenges.

“Thank you to the Vice President and every person; the list is endless…I am thankful to everyone and hope to see you this evening as we celebrate.”
