The Vice President, H.E Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia delivered the most powerful message that could move even the most hardened heart towards him on the fist day of his twelve-day tour of the Ashanti Region.

In a five-point bulleting message, the astute gentlemen began his delivery from the hardest decision of how he had to sacrifice a lucrative position as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank (BoG) to begin a new adventure with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the running mate for the 2008 elections. Dr. Bawuma’s said ‘ I asked Nana Addo how many days do I have to bring back my response? And he, Nana Addo, said 24hrs. Fellow patriots, I could not sleep that night. But I said to myself that it is the NPP that has gotten me what I have now as the Deputy Governor. I would be the biggest of disappointments, to myself and to God, if I fail to honour this august invitation to sacrifice for the Party. So I accepted.’_

This heart-touching message, together with his appearance in the dock at the Supreme Court for the Party in the 2012 election petition, brought thought-provoking moments of what the real meaning of sacrifice for the Party could mean amongst the electoral collage.

The Vice President took the opportunity to defuse his opponents’ propaganda that the Akan regions may not vote for him with a simple question ‘ _If the NDC has elected John Mahama, and the NPP has elected Dr Bawumia, why do you think the Akans would vote for Mahama but not Bawumia when are both northerners? Or the Akans won’t vote? This propaganda is dead on arrival. The Akans and Christians community love me so much. He added._

The visibly happy Dr Bawumia narrated how he flattened the strongholds of the NDC in election 2020 even as the running mate. And assured them that, with him as the Flagbearer, John Mahama and the NDC would no force to reckon with, considering this massive support from the Akan regions.

Dr. Bawumia charged his support base not to subscribe to any attempt to trade insults amongst ourselves. He said _’we should always be mindful that there lies the real battle against our opponents, the NDC, in 2024, and we shall need unity after this election for that common purpose._

The ‘Glory Bus’ moves today in the day-two of the tour.
