The Attorney General (AG), Godfred Dame, has come under fire from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for allegedly choosing only certain cases to pursue.

The assertion was made in a statement released on Thursday, July 6, 2023 by the party’s Legal Directorate.
The prosecution of James Gyakye Quayson, an Assin North MP, Stephen Opuni, a former COCOBOD chairman, and Cassiel Ato Forson, the majority leader, were some of the incidents cited by the NDC lawyers to support their assertion.

“The AG may want to use whatever legal gymnastics to try to make it look as if these prosecutions are so legally, factually and sufficiently evidence-based, but to the ordinary observer who has followed all that has gone on, know, this is no prosecution at all but persecution”.

The NDC Legal Directorate also urged Godfred Dame to use the same resources he is using to prosecute NDC members to other significant matters, such as the prosecution of the former CEO of MenzGold and those suspected in the murder of JB Danquah, among others.
