Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claims that he is the only one who can enable his party win the national election in all the regions where it has historically struggled to do so.

Aside from the NPP’s Ashanti Region stronghold, where it routinely wins by a wide margin, the party hasn’t always had it easy in Greater Accra, Western, Central, and the Volta Region, which is the NDC’s stronghold.

For instance, it took the NPP many years before it was able to win a parliamentary seat in the Volta Region at the most recent election, where John Peter Amewu, a former energy minister, was elected as the MP for Hohoe.

Coincidentally, Mr. Peter Amewu supports Alan for the NPP leadership position in 2024.
The former trade and industry minister claimed he had a strong approval rating in the four regions to gain more votes for the NPP at the national elections while addressing delegates in several constituencies as part of his Greater Accra Regional tour.

At the Prampram, Ada, and Sege constituencies, he met representatives.
Party representatives from the Madina, Adentan, and Shai Osudoku constituencies gathered at the University for Professional Studies in Accra as part of the cluster engagements, when Mr. Kyerematen spoke to them.

Alan said: “I am the only one that can win Greater Accra, Central, Western and Volta Regions for the NPP as the people of these regions are rooting for me to become the flagbearer of the NPP in 2024.”
The former trade minister emphasized that the NPP’s sole chance of ending the eight-year political cycle in the nation rests with him.

Thus, he urged the delegates to choose a flagbearer who would likely succeed him as president of the nation.

Mr. Kyerematen exhorted the delegates to “listen” to the party’s approximately six million grassroots supporters and select their choice for the party’s candidate in the upcoming general election.
Delegates must consider not only their own interests but also the interests of the members who elected them, he continued.

Additionally, Mr. Kyerematen urged the delegates to support a candidate who has the interests of the constituents at heart.

When given the opportunity to lead the party to victory in the national election, he vowed to improve the welfare and possibilities for constituency executives.

He claimed that due of his attraction to residents of that section of the country, he was the only NPP political figure who would be able to reduce the number of votes cast for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta region.
