A commercial vehicle struck some traders at the Suame roundabout in the Ashanti Region, killing one of them.
According to a witness, two other people were injured severely and were taken straight to the Tafo Government Hospital.
The incident happened early on Thursday when a commercial Toyota Commota with the license plate AS 3987-13 went off the road and ran down some roadside vendors.
Mr. Kofi Richard, a passenger who was in the automobile at the time of the tragedy, recalled that it was packed with people traveling from Pankrono to Kejetia.
“Upon getting to the Suame Roundabout, the car veered off and crushed three traders.
One of the ladies, who is said to be in her middle 40s, was rescued and sent to Tafo Government Hospital after spending close to 20 minutes stuck under the vehicle.
But shortly after arriving at the hospital, health professionals declared her dead.
Two other people who were struck by the vehicle are improving under medical care.
The Suame Divisional Police Command has detained the driver while it conducts its inquiry.
