The brutality inflicted on Ashaiman citizens by some military troops has been condemned by Dominic Nitiwul, Minister of Defense.

Due to the inevitable occurrence of unfortunate events like what occurred in Ashaiman, he claimed that it is never easy to guarantee complete harmony when forming a country.

After their comrade, Sheriff Imoro, was reportedly fatally stabbed by unidentified assailants in the neighborhood on Tuesday, a group of troops converged on Ashaiman and began beating up the locals.

Since then, the military has explained its actions as an intelligence-led mission to apprehend those purportedly responsible for the military man’s murder.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Mr. Nitiwul voiced his compassion and regret for the military’s mistreatment of the defenseless victims.

“Incidents like this in the life of the country do happen. We are shaping up a country, and we’re going to have some of these regrettable incidents happen. But I will still appeal to the people of Ghana to be very respectful of people in uniform. It will help all of us,” The Minister of Defense warned.

The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the event in Ashaiman has been given to the Defense and Interior Committee.

To this end, Mr. Ntiwul stated that the Committee will hold off on making any statements about the incident until they have inspected the scene of the incident and verified what took place there.
