“We are going to approach this year elections as if it’s life and death” – John Mahama to NDC supporters

John Dramani Mahama, the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagbearer, has declared that the party will not spare any effort in the 2024 elections.

On Monday, January 1, 2024, as part of the New Year’s celebration in the Savannah Region, Mahama spoke to party members from seven constituencies and stated that the party will treat the elections as if they were a matter of life and death.

“We are going to approach this election as if it’s life and death; this is not going to be business as usual,” he declared.

“We must go after every single vote and when that vote is cast, we must make sure that we defend every single vote, God has opened the way. But we don’t need to sit assume that we have won the elections already.”

Mahama also said that Ghanaians are prepared for the NDC, noting that if the party takes its work seriously and makes sure to safeguard its supporters’ votes in order to win the general elections in 2024, Ghanaians will be prepared for it as well.

Speaking about the party’s resources in advance of the elections, the 2024 flagbearer revealed that the party is trying to supply the resources required to make get logistics to support their campaigns.

Mahama encouraged constituency and regional executives to assist their members of parliament so they can win back their seats and garner support for the party as a whole, even as he praised them for their work on behalf of the party.

“After we have finished voting, nobody is going to sleep until we have our pink sheets correctly filled and we’ve reported the results to a location that it has to be reported to”, Mahama said.

The former president also urged party members to put up a strong fight in order to win control of every parliamentary seat in the Savannah region, the place of his birth.

“Take the money if it comes in because it belongs to you as taxpayers. Thus, he said, “God won’t punish you for taking back your own money if the money comes, so take it, chop it, and if they say you should swear, swear.”

During his visit to the district, former president Mahama who is gearing up for a serious campaign ahead of the 2024 election is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Paramount chief of the Bole traditional area and meet with the Muslim community in his hometown of Bole.
