Mohammed Kudus, a midfielder for the Black Stars, has officially signed with Premier League club West Ham United.

Kudus transfers from Dutch team Ajax to the East London club and signs a five-year deal with an additional year’s option.

Assured. There will be a sizable West Ham United following in Ghana.

The Ghanaian will cost West Ham an initial €41.5 million (£35.59 million) plus €3 million (£2.57 million) in performance-related add-ons, making him the club’s second most costly acquisition.

Kudus joins Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, and Konstantinos Mavropanos as the most recent players to relocate to the London Stadium this summer.

Kudus told the club’s official website: “I’ve been dreaming to play in a league like this since I was a kid.
“I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.

“I try my best to entertain the fans as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team. I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”

Kudus played in 87 games for Ajax during the course of his three-year stay, tallying 12 assists and 27 goals across all competitions.

Along with those three awards, he also captured two league championships in his first two seasons with the team.

After John Paintsil and Andre Ayew, who each spent two years with the club between 2006 and 2008 and 2016 and 2018, Kudus is the third Ghanaian to play for the East London club after their moves.

The former Ajax player claims that Ayew had an impact on his choice to join David Moyes’ team this summer after leaving the Netherlands.

“Ayew has been speaking highly of West Ham, but John Paintsil is way older so I didn’t get a chance to speak with him!” Kudus said in his first interview after being unveiled.

“Andre is still in the national team and speaks a lot about experiences in most clubs and West Ham is one of the clubs that he speaks highly of.”
