Actress Yvonne Nelson has called on policy think tank IMANI Africa to plan a demonstration against the Akufo-Addo-led administration over the current unstable power supply, often known as “dumsor.”

This request is made in response to the recent sporadic power outages that have led many Ghanaians to urge that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) provide a load-shedding schedule.

Monday, April 22, 2024: Ms. Nelson posted on X about how excited she was for IMANI to be a part of the vigil, recalling the organization’s engagement in one such event in 2015.

She criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, saying that they were failing the nation and that this could not continue.

“Imani Ghana, can we organise another vigil? I’ve been waiting for you to reach out like you did years back. (your team made our demo a success) I’m reaching out myself. The NPP and its leadership @NAkufoAddo have taken Ghanaians for granted” Yvonne Nelson posted.
