Ghanaians urged to plant more trees against climate change

The Paramount chief of Sabin Akrofrom in the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region,Nana Osei Kofi and his subjects have planted 100’s species of trees to help sustain vegetation in order to fight against the climate change in the world.

Speaking to the media,the representative of Nana Osei Kofi,the Adontenhene of Sabin Akrofrom,Nana Anarfi,said they  saw the importance of the”Green Ghana project ” as declared by the president of the Republic of Ghana,Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and so decided to engage in the exercise with his subjects to help keep the country vegetation intact.

According to him the chief and subjects in town are ready to plant more trees and therefore plead with authorities in charge of the “Green Ghana” to come to their aid to provide them with the necessary materials to support their course.

In an interview with some residents,they also expressed their gratitude to the Chief of Sabin Akrofrom,Nana Osei Kofi to the course and urged citizens to be self discipline in other not to destroy the vegetation in the country.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, 1st March 2022, launched the 2022 edition of “Green Ghana Day”, with a commitment to planting some twenty million trees this year, as part of Government’s aggressive afforestation and reforestation programme.

Speaking at the event held at the Accra International Conference Centre, President Akufo-Addo stated that even though the target of the maiden edition of Green Ghaana Day, held last year, was some 5 million trees, a total of 7 million trees were planted.
