Dr. Bossman Asare, the EC’s Deputy Chairperson in charge of Corporate Services, has denied allegations that the electoral body is conspiring with the ruling administration to rig or tamper with the polls.
Speaking on the allegations in an interview on GHOne TV on Monday, November 18, 2024, Dr. Asare said those who make such statements or insinuations are being mischievous.
“If you understand our processes, you will realise that anyone who jumps to that conclusion or that bandwagon is just being mischievous and pretending not to understand the processes,” he said.
He clarified that throughout the election process, the EC keeps abreast of all developments and collaborates closely with the various political parties.
Dr. Asare claims that this precludes the Electoral Commission from working with any one party to rig election results.
“With the processes, we do the registrations with the parties, and they are allowed to have agents at all the registration centres. Once the registration is concluded, data is shared with them in what we call the start-of-day and end-of-day reports at each registration centre.”
“We work closely with the political parties, so anyone who makes that assertion or conclusion that the EC is in bed with the government, then clearly the person has just decided not to understand the process” he added.
