Kenneth Adjei, the minister-designate for Works, Housing, and Water Resources, has promised to use Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to draw in capital as well as expertise to Ghana’s housing industry.
In order to solve the nation’s housing issues, Adjei stressed the importance of cooperation between the public and commercial sectors as well as foreign organizations during his vetting in Parliament on Tuesday.
“Given the opportunity, I will leverage public-private partnerships to attract investment and expertise from the private sector,” he stated. “I would also, given the opportunity, partner with the private sector and key actors such as Greater Accra authorities and other international organizations to support the housing sector.”
Ghana has a severe housing shortage, making it difficult for many of its residents to find affordable housing. The government’s overarching goal of accelerating infrastructure development through strategic partnerships with the private sector is in line with Adjei’s strategy.
