Oliver Barker-Vormawor has expressed his sincere regret for accusing the Appointments Committee of bribery.
Before the Appointments Committee, which had summoned him to testify, he apologized through his attorney, Nana Ato Dadzie.
“So all the monies the ministerial appointees are being asked to pay to the Appointments Committee just to get approved, are those ones not affected by ORAL? Strange Republic,” he had posted on Facebook.
His attorney acknowledged that he had posted the remark, which the committee deemed disrespectful, but claimed that his intention had been misunderstood.
“Mr. Chairman… We apologise, first of all, for what we posted, which we said was intended for something else,” Nana Ato Dadzie stated, implying that certain other posts that were believed to be connected to his accusation were not, in fact, his.
Angry committee members, especially those on the minority side who supposedly wanted to question him directly, voiced dissatisfaction that they would not be able to take him on and disapproved of his attorney answering questions on his behalf.
