The Ashanti Region’s Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School in Asokore has been shut down.
This instruction was issued by the Ghana TVET Service in response to some students’ Sunday morning rampage in protest over the subpar results of their forebears in their final exam.
Forty or so of them had been detained for committing property damage to a school.
Four government vehicles, including a school bus, a Nissan Patrol, a Mahindra, and an Isuzu pickup truck, were vandalized.
The Senior House Mistress’s Toyota Vitz car also sustained damage.
The students also abandoned a teacher’s other salon car.
The closure was “on the advice of the Sekyere East District Security Council and the Ashanti Regional Security Council,” according to a statement from the Ghana TVET Service Director-General, Mawusi Nudekor Awity.
The instruction to leave the school grounds immediately has been given to the students.
“To protect property and lives, the Security Services will be on hand to evacuate all the students” Parts of the announcement dated January 22 recommended parents to take action to pick up their children from school.
