In response to the unexpected reorganization of the National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary leadership, some of the party’s supporters in Tamale, in the Northern Region, have gathered at the regional headquarters of the organization.
According to reports the decision’s supporters claim it won’t bode well for the party.
They demand that the party’s leadership reverse its choice or face their fury.
There hasn’t been a transformation like this in the party’s history, claim the voters.
They further charge Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman, of undermining Haruna Iddrisu, the former Minority Leader.
The National Office has been given a 24-hour deadline by the incensed party members to reconsider the decision or face their wrath.
The NDC said that it has changed the minority leadership in parliament in a statement signed by the general secretary, Fifi Kwetey.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, a former deputy minister of finance, has been chosen to lead the minority party in Ghana’s eighth parliament.
Kofi Armah Buah also serves as the Minority Chief Whip’s deputy.
As Chief Whip, Kwame Agbodza takes over.
The positions of Comfort Doyo Cudjoe-Ghansah, MP for Ada, and Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda, respectively, as First and Second Deputy Minority Chief Whips, have been preserved.
