A known member of the NDC in Kumawu took Ghc 50 and voted for the NPP – Joseph Yamin

According to Joseph Yammin, National Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a known NDC member purportedly took Ghc50 from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in order to cast a ballot for the NPP’s candidate in the just concluded Kumawu by-election.

He stated this while denouncing what he called vote-buying in the elections that took place on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

“A known member of the NDC in Kumawu took Ghc 50 and voted for the NPP. When we confronted him he was bold to tell us that he is not wicked and that since he has taken money from the other side, there is no way he can vote against them,” Joseph Yamin said.

He claimed that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) example in the Kumawu elections was detrimental to Ghanaian politics and democracy.

Yammin is of the opinion that in the future, voters would demand money before casting ballots rather than criticizing the policies and programs required for the nation’s development.

After Philip Basoah, a serving member of parliament, passed away, a by-election in Kumawu became necessary.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional NPP communications Director Dennis Kwakwa denied the allegation describing it as hoax and baseless. According to him, people of Kumawu are discerning hence cannot be taken for granted.

According to Mr. Kwakwa, the NPP government has done much for the people of Kumawu of which he believes they would not disappoint them.

“We have nothing against the people of Kumawu and we can’t take the people of Kumawu for granted. We want the best for them” Dennis Kwakwa stated.
