The New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Wontumi, has predicted that Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an independent, will lose the Ejisu by-election.

Chairman Wontumi claims that Mr. Aduomi is aware of this and has thus turned to leveling false accusations against the NPP.

The NPP’s three-term MP for Ejisu has claimed that the party intends to rig Tuesday’s by-election in order to keep the seat held by the late John Kumah.

On Adom FM’s morning program, Dwaso Nsem Monday, his campaign assistant, Nana Osei Bonsu, also claimed that the NPP intended to use national security officers as polling agents.

In order to maintain their illegality, he also asserted that the NPP had tampered with ballots at the Kwamo Executive Lodge even before the election.

On the same program, Chairman Wontumi, however, advised Mr. Aduomi and his group to refrain from using deception as a means of gaining the elections.

He declared that such propaganda must end since no NPP member is an officer of the Electoral Commission (EC) to tamper with the elections.

“Aduomi is aware that he will lose the election, therefore they are using this opportunity to spread false information. They are merely lying since no one, not even the Chief of Staff, is an EC official or is aware of a returning officer, he said.

In the meantime, the team of Mr. Aduomi has predicted that they would win at least 80% of the votes in the eagerly awaited election.

Because of his reputation in Ejisu and the affection of his constituents, which includes members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Aduomi is optimistic that he would win.
