The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, rallies supporters in Ejisu to support Kwabena Boateng in the forthcoming by-election, emphasizing continuity and progress.

Bawumia warned against dividing votes among independent candidates during his speech at the last campaign rally before the April 30th by-election, citing possible advantages for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its leader, John Mahama.

Drawing attention to the slim parliamentary margin the NPP has 138 seats compared to the NDC’s 137 Bawumia emphasized the significance of every vote in ensuring a strong mandate for the ruling party.

Bawumia emphasized the importance of lawmakers in promoting development projects and emphasized how the NPP has improved Ejisu residents’ quality of life in comparison to the NDC administration. In order to carry on the efforts of the late John Kumah, he asked supporters to unite behind Boateng, admonishing against endorsing an independent candidate as this may unintentionally strengthen the NDC.

“Compared to the NDC, the NPP government has improved the lives and people of Ejisu. During the NDC period, nothing actually worked.Legislators advocate for policies from the ruling government rather than funding them. The NDC has 137 members in parliament, whereas the NPP, plus the independent candidate, has 138. Therefore, voting for an independent implies that John Mahama and the NDC would gain control,” he stated.

What prevented the NDC from fielding a candidate in this by-election? Bawumia claimed, “They are endorsing the independent candidate.”

“Let’s all come out in our numbers on election day and vote massively for Lawyer Kwabena Boateng to continue the late John Kumah’s work,” he said.
