A group visited the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, under the direction of Alan Kyeremanteng, the outgoing minister for trade and industry.

On Wednesday, January 11, 2022, Mr. Kyeremanteng and his group paid a visit to the Manhyia Palace to brief the Ashanti supreme ruler, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on the Greater Kumasi Industrial City and Special Economic Zone project.

After the project is finished, businesses in the priority sector, such as those engaged in heavy industrial manufacturing, warehousing logistics, and cocoa processing, among others, would be able to set up shop.
It is envisaged that this would result in the development of jobs and turn the nation into an industrial powerhouse.

The trip included representatives from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the World Bank, and Country Director Pierre Frank Laporte.

The Minister informed the King of his reason to resigned during his visit to the Manhyia Palace.
“Let me use this opportunity to officially imform his majesty about my resignation as the minister of Trade and Industry, I want to respectfully thank the King for his guidance and support that to a large extent shaped my work at the Ministry”.

In line with the New Patriotic Party’s constitution, Alan Kyerematen resigned to purportedly focus on his presidential aspirations (NPP).

In his address to the country on Tuesday, Alan claimed to have created the Great Transformation Plan (GTP) as a remedy for Ghana’s flimsy economy.

He hopes that by implementing this strategy, Ghana would avoid having to visit the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the 18th time and will be protected from future external threats like the COVID epidemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.
