Arise Ghana and Justice for Ghana, two pressure organizations, have petitioned Parliament to stop using the pension fund for the planned national cathedral and instead use it to compensate NABCO officers who have not yet received government salary.

The leaders of the pressure organizations sent a two-page petition to the House leadership after picketing at the cathedral site and in front of the ceremonial gate.

The organisations pointed out, among other things, that Ghanaians are going through severe challenges and do not require the limited state monies obtained by taxing them to be utilized to pay what they called the executive president’s extravagant frivolities.

The petition was delivered by Mr. Selorm Dramani Djiramado on behalf of the organizations, and it was accepted by Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Leader, and Hon. Habib Iddrisu, 2nd Deputy Majority Whip.

Both of them gave the group’s members assurances that the Rt. Hon. Speaker Alban Bagbin and the House leadership will take note of their issues.
