Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of NDC presidential candidate John Mahama for the 2024 election, argues that dishonest public servants will face legal action under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regime.

She says that the accountability concept is what drives the decision to punish officials involved in any kind of theft.

During her outdooring as former President John Mahama’s running mate, the former Minister for Education made a commitment to the NDC rank and file and other dignitaries that she would not be a danger but would instead pursue government officials.

“Across the political divide, across social and professional groupings, among the youth, you hear of complaints and stories concerning state capture, where this government has chosen to use its power not in the broader interest of all Ghanaians but to favor a small clique. What is that?

“John and I have agreed, that whoever has participated in the plunder of the state must be held accountable. This is not a threat; it is a promise, premised on the wishes of our citizens across the various political and social divides, and hinged on the principle of accountability,” Prof Opoku-Agyemang stated.

According to Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), corruption under President Akufo-Addo’s government is severely suffocating the country.

Speaking at the same occasion, Mr. Kwetey said that Ghana has been morally bankrupt under the current government for about eight years.

“The country is in a state of collapse, not in the physical form, the real collapse of our country is a moral collapse we have seen nearly 8 years. The state of this beautiful country is at an all-time low. The suffering Ghanaians are looking to breathe again.

“People of Ghana cannot breathe. The level of pain, the suffering, the hardship, the lies, the dishonesty, corruption is choking Ghana to the maximum level,” Mr Kwetey said.
