There are complains of growing fears among citizens withinside the Sokoban Newsite in Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly of the Ashanti Region.
The demanding development, in line with the Residents is because of rampant theft which has hit a few groups in the town recently. Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame observed that those robberies have been at the upward thrust in Sokoban Newsite, the closing community withinside the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly which have boundary with Atwima Kwanwoma district and Bosomtwe respectively.
Resident said he and many of his colleagues no longer worked late in the night because they were afraid of being attacked and describe the state of affairs as dizzying and unbearable.
Motorbikes, Mobile phones, money, and lots of others together with domestic home equipment are the common substances many citizens complained they’re being robbed with.
The citizens attributed those rampant robberies to the current state of affairs of insecurity in the vicinity to lack of police personnel in the police post in the area.
According to them the police Post which was constructed during the era of former Ashanti Regional police Commander COP Nathan Kofi Boakye has been left to rot in the bush without personnel.
The Assembly member withinside the location, Hon Kwadwo Boateng in an interview with the media said the state of affairs is being controlled with the aid of using the community watchdog committee however due to the shortage of protection system and motivational fees, the state of affairs continues worsening.
Investigations found out that, the police patrol crew has stopped their night time patrol in the location due to insufficient logistics to perform operations for the past 3 years.
“We do not have a single rifle to fight in the event of an attack,” the sources said and added that the police in the area were themselves afraid of being attacked at any time because of the lack of working tools.
