Ejisu MP John Ampontuah Kumah is dead

Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, the Deputy Minister of Finance, passed away at the age of forty-five.

Following a brief illness, the Ejisu MP passed away in the early hours of Thursday, March 7.

His wife, Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, and their six children survive him, leaving a legacy of a committed family man.

During his tenure as the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme’s (NEIP) first CEO, Dr. Kumah was instrumental in establishing NEIP as a major participant in Ghana’s entrepreneurship scene.

Under his direction, the Presidential Business Support Program at NEIP trained 7,000 startups in 2018 and gave 1,350 recipients financial support.

Prior to taking on his government position, Dr. Kumah founded Majak Associates Ltd., a building and construction company, and served as Managing Partner and founding member of Aduaprokye Chambers, a legal firm.

Dr. Kumah was honored for both his professional and academic achievements. He holds a master’s degree in applied business research and a doctorate in business innovation from the Swiss Business School in Switzerland.

Additionally, he was a graduate of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) with an Executive Masters degree in Business Administration (Finance).

The academic career of Dr. Kumah started at the University of Ghana, where he graduated with Bachelor’s degrees in Economics with Philosophy and Law. In 2013, he was admitted to the Ghana Bar.
