Three contractors’ contracts for the Agenda 111 hospital projects in the Ashanti region have been terminated by the government.

At Kunsu in the Ahafo Ano South-West District, Manso Adubia in the Amansie South District, and Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region, the contractors were working on the projects.

According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Information, the contractors did not satisfy the Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

He made this statement during the Minister’s news conference on the status of the Agenda 111 hospital projects, which was conducted at the 62 percent finished Trede project site in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti.

In order to avoid having their contracts terminated, Mr. Nkrumah advised all of the contractors involved in the hospital projects to perform well and satisfy the KPIs.

The Agenda 111 projects won’t be impacted by the IMF conditions, according to Dr. Nsiah Asare, Presidential Advisor on Health.

When the projects are finished, Dr. Nsiah Asare also promised unemployed medical professionals particularly nurses and doctors more jobs.

According to him, the 111 projects were divided into eight zones, and the Ashanti area, which is in Zone 8, is a beneficiary of 17 of the 111 projects.

While the majority of the projects in the area have already begun, he claimed that some of the districts were yet to do so because of some land-related difficulties.

He claimed that in order to make use of the available land, the projects had to be changed from a single stack to a double stack storey skyscraper.

Asokore-Mampong, Bantama, and Kwabenakwa were a few of the districts he mentioned as having difficulties obtaining land for the project.

Despite the reconfiguration, he insisted that all projects would share the same amenities.

The president on August 17, 2021 cut the sod for the construction of the Agenda 111 hospital project.

Each hospital facility is planned as a single-story campus featuring Patient Reception & Processing, Administration, Pharmacy, Labs / Diagnostics, OPD, Physiotherapy, Public Health, Accident & Emergency, Surgical Ward, Paediatric Ward, Maternity Ward, Isolation Ward and four state of the art theatre for surgery.
