In all, 321 candidates are vying for NPP tickets in the 2024 legislative elections; 33 of these candidates are running unopposed.

Hon. KT Hammond, a minister for trade and industry and member of parliament for Adansi Asokwa, has threatened to humiliate Benefo Darkwa, the front-runner, in a brutal manner.

He claimed that in the early hours of the elections, Benefo Darkwa attacked his supporters with macho men.

KT Hammond did not hold back when confronting senior police officers at the polling place. She was even undaunted by the presence of uniformed police officers stationed nearby.

“I am going to ensure that he is mercilessly beaten to pulp; we have voted here for 24 years, and I have never seen such an act before. How can that stupid boy, Benefo Darkwa, do that to supporters?” he quizzed.

“I have voted in this constituency for over 20 years. Nothing happens every time. Last night at this place, there were body-built men beating up some of my followers. After the fight, some of the macho guys came to my house to beg me. But I want to tell you, Mr. Commander, that I will give him two types of showdown. I will beat and humiliate him here and then organize for him to be beaten physically,” he added.

Today, January 27, 2024, marks the NPP’s parliamentary primaries, which will choose the candidates for the general elections in 2024.
