The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has started returning 100 tricycles to their owners after seizing them on August 7, 2023.
This comes after the KMA’s transport reorganization exercise, which from Monday, July 24, 2023, banned tricycle operation within the center of the Central Business District (CBD).
In a statement released on Thursday, the KMA stated that the release of the tricycles was done to preserve tranquility in the city.
It advised all impacted riders to bring the necessary documentation for their tricycles and go to the impoundment area near to the KMA headquarters to retrieve their tricycles.
“The owners/riders should come with a witness or leadership of tricycle operators to countersign an undertaking form and appropriately collect the tricycle. An amount of GH¢134 will be charged instead of the special exercise fee of GH¢500 as resolved by the General Assembly,” KMA added in its statement.
The KMA said that starting on Monday, August 14, 2023, every impounded tricycle will be required to pay the GH 500 special exercise cost.
