Six government institutions have received notice from the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) that they want to go on a statewide strike beginning on November 29, 2023.

The Ministries of Health, Employment and Labor Relations, National Security, Finance, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and National Labour Commission are among the organizations involved.

MOWAG said that they had already expressed their concerns and looked for a solution in a press release that was signed by the organization’s general secretary, Richard Kofi Jordan, and released on Monday, November 20. The press release was then received by the aforementioned institutions on Wednesday, November 22.

The association added the strike is “exercise of our rights” as the 1992 Constitution stipulates.
