Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made it known that he plans to run for president in the general elections of 2024 using the NPP’s platform.

“I want to be clear today. I will submit my nomination as soon as the party permits it for the position of the party’s flagbearer, he declared on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

When the time comes, “you will know the warmth of the youth because my message resonates with them,” he continued, “you will know the party has laws and regulations and we don’t need to jump the gun.”

Because I have served under every level of this party leadership, he claims, “they perceive in me the hope of our political tradition.”

After being suspended in 2015 for misbehavior together with the National Chairman at the time, Mr. Paul Afoko, and the National Vice Chairman at the time, Mr. Sammy Crabbe, Mr. Agyepong was welcomed back into the NPP in 2021.

His participation in the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), Steering Committee, and National Council was reinstated as a result of the suspension being lifted.

Mr. Agyepong, who has previously run for the position of flagbearer, claimed that because of what he has experienced, he “feels the pulse of the people of this country and has empathy.”

He stated in an interview with Citi TV, situated in Accra, Ghana, on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 monitored by Ghanatodayonline.com, “I have observed the everyday trajectory of the Ghanaian people and I think that there is an opportunity to change that narrative.”

The NPP, according to him, needs peace to re-energize its foundation and the excitement of its supporters, run for office, and win.

I think our party has a lot more core members, but we also need to engage the independents.
