Otumfuo gets Ghc50m worth of scholarship from Memphis University to Ghanaian students

After meeting with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, US-based Memphis University awarded scholarships to Ghanaian students valued Ghc 50 million.

According to the terms of the two countries’ agreement, qualifying Ghanaian students will pursue their degrees of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral.

On May 24, 2023, Dr. Kingsley Agyeman, Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, handed the signed paperwork to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for consideration.

Dr. Kingsley Agyemang told Ghanatodayonline.com, Jacob Agyenim Boateng that the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s wise leadership was essential in getting Ghana the scholarship package.

According to him, the package will enable Ghana to create a skilled, innovative, and experienced workforce that will drive the national industrialisation strategy.

“we will forever be grateful to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II because he personally requested for this scholarship package when he served as the special guest at the renowned Memphis in May Festival last year”.

“Now I can assure you that under the guidance of the Asantehene, Ghana and Memphis University have signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU), finalizing the agreement that outlines the implementation of the Scholarship “.

After receiving the paperwork, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II praised the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat’s management for their excellent leadership over the last few years.

He gave them orders to carry out their tasks in a patriotic manner and to continue serving the people of Ghana with all humility.

The Asante Kingdom’s overlord added that he had obtained the package of scholarships for all Ghanaian students and had asked the Secretariat to give them to any eligible Ghanaian students who wanted to attend Memphis University.
