The Ghana Police Service said that 89 people had been arrested for a variety of offenses during the general elections in 2024.
40 of the suspects are directly connected to acts of vandalism, looting, and property destruction, according to a police bulletin released on Monday, December 9.
Every suspect will be subject to legal action and brought before the courts, the police added.
In order to preserve law and order, safety, and peace after the election, the police have taken these arrests as part of their security measures.
Authorities continue to stay on guard even though there haven’t been many instances of looting, vandalism, or property destruction.
The police have strongly warned the public not to engage in aggressive behavior because those who do so will be arrested and face legal repercussions.
The police also urged everyone involved to maintain composure and thanked Ghanaians for their support during the electoral process.
They promised the people that they would always be safe, secure, and that their property would be protected.
