The primary suspects in the killing of the young officer Imoro Sherrif have been detained, according to the Ghana Police Service.

Imoro Sherrif, a visitor to Accra from Sunyani, was assassinated in the Ashaiman neighborhood on Saturday, March 4, 2023, according to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

Members of the GAF swarmed into the Greater Accra metropolis at daybreak on March 7th.

In their formal release, the GAF said that “the military operation, which was sanctioned by the Military High Command, was not to avenge the killing of the soldier but rather to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime.”

According to the militay, the raid led to the apprehension of 184 offenders between the ages of 21 and 47.

It also stated that these people had since been turned over to the military police, who would then transfer them to the Ghana Police Service for investigation and further action.

Residents of Ashaiman claimed on social media that they were brutalized and interrogated during the aforementioned raid.

They distributed unsettling stories and pictures.

We cannot take the laws into our own hands, whether we are legislators or security forces, said Ashaiman’s Member of Parliament (MP), Ernest Henry Norgbey.

The Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, the Ministry of Defense, and the Military High Command will all make a visit to the Ashaiman neighborhood on Thursday, March 16, according to Dominic Nitiwul, the Minister of Defense.
