President Akufo-Addo receives credentials of six envoys

At a brief presentation ceremony marking the start of their tour of duty in Ghana, six new Ambassadors and High Commissioners presented their letters of credence to President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Jubilee House in Accra.

They are H.E. Kittisak Klomchit of Thailand, H.E. Andrew Augustus Wilson of The Bahamas, H.E. David Kabre of Burkina Faso, H.E. Rosa Liliana Gomez Cardenas De Weston of Peru, H.E. Daniel Mahongo of Zambia, H.E. Andrew Augustus Wilson of The Bahamas, and H.E. Amaury Justo Duarte of the Dominican Republic.

In his conversation with President Akufo-Addo, David Kabre vowed to strengthen the long-standing ties between the two nations by resuming and holding Joint Cooperation Committees and carrying out talks on the Bolgatanga-Po pipeline project and the railway interconnection projects between them. Additionally, he promised to make military and security collaboration stronger in the battle against terrorism.

H.E. Daniel Mahongo of Zambia pledged to capitalize on already-existing ties between Ghana and Zambia, which have been further strengthened by the recent state visit of Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema, while H.E. Rosa Liliana Gomez Cardenas De Weston of Peru expressed her willingness to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of political consultation that provides the opportunity to identify key areas of cooperation.

H.E. Kittisak Klomchit of Thailand, offered to support Ghana’s efforts in rice growing to reduce the import burden on the staple for Ghana, whereas, H.E. Andrew Augustus Wilson of The Bahamas, said, the struggles for self-determination, sovereignty, identity and reparatory justice, form the foundation of the strong cultural and diplomatic connection between the two countries.

We celebrated the 4th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Ghana and the Dominican Republic as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries, said H.E. Amaury Justo Duarte, who is based in Morocco, adding that “we are two friendly and like-minded countries that share a history of fighting for independence and democracy”.

President Akufo-Addo thanked them for their service and recalled specific areas of cooperation before promising even closer support, collaboration, and people-to-people ties as well as bilateral engagements between Ghana and their respective countries.
