Following its compromise on March 16, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama has declared that his official X (previously Twitter) account (@JDMahama) has been successfully restored.
Unauthorized marketing of the cryptocurrency hoax Solana Africa, which purported to be headed by the president and promised to use the Solana blockchain to enable free payments throughout Africa, was part of the breach.
President Mahama thanked everyone for their assistance throughout the situation and announced that his staff had restored control of the account with the help of X support.
The initial sign of the hack was when promotional material for the cryptocurrency project Solanafrica started to appear on Mahama’s account.
Thank you for your inquiries and offers to assist. My team, working with X support, has successfully restored my account” he wrote on his X account wall.
At first, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) gave the public the assurance that it was working closely with X and other pertinent parties to resolve the problem and stop it from happening again.
