We want to identify the causes and road map towards the revival of the Black Stars – Sports Ministry

The Black Stars’ dismal performance at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire has deeply disappointed the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

For the second consecutive AFCON, the team did not advance past the group stage, as expressed in a statement by the Sports Ministry.

Ghana was placed in a group with Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique when she was eliminated from competition.

The Ministry recognized the general dissatisfaction among Ghanaians and football fans worldwide.

Given these setbacks, the statement recognized the necessity of a thorough overhaul of Ghana’s football structure. According to the Ministry, “This clearly points to the urgent need for a comprehensive diagnosis and restructuring of Ghana football.”

Proactively, the Ministry promised to work with national team stakeholders to create a strategic plan that would pinpoint the reasons behind the team’s poor performance and outline a course for bringing the Black Stars back to life.

“In the coming days, the Ministry will announce a strategic plan to identify the causes and the road map towards the revival of the Black Stars,” the statement read. It was discussed with stakeholders in the national team.
